Emily Brontës Wuthering Heights :: essays research papers fc

What usually comes to mind when one thinks of Emily Brontes Wuthering Heights? Most will calculate tortured lovers against the extraordinary moors. Perhaps one will even recall the scene of one lover, Heathcliff, opening the grave of his Catherine to dig a space where they layabout be joined eternally. Yet another equally powerful emotion appears throughout the novel as an antithesis to love, that of revenge. Revenge first forms the basis of the actions of Hindley, the Earnshaw son, toward Heathcliff. Later revenge is mirrored in the vengeful actions of Heathcliff after he loses Catherine. In the process of gaining revenge, both characters lose their own humanity and their souls.Hindley Earnshaw, the son and heir, reacts badly to his fathers bringing home a stray gypsy boy from the streets of Liverpool and to demands that Heathcliff be treated like his own brother. Both Catherine, his sister, and Hindley refuse to have it in come with them, or even their own room at night so tha t Heathcliff has to sleep on the landing outside (Bronte 41). While Catherine learns to love Heathcliff, Hindley spends his days in revenge toward the intruder, especially after Heathcliff becomes Mr. Earnshaws favorite (42). Hindleys beatings of Heathcliff further alienate Mr. Earnshaw, who is infuriated when he discovered his son persecuting the poor, fatherless child, as he called him (42). Hindley regularly beats Heathcliff and threatens to turn Heathcliff out in the cold when Mr. Earnshaw dies (43). When Heathcliff blackmails Hindley into swapping colts for the secret beatings, Hindley shows reasons for his jealousy toward Heathcliff, Take my colt, gipsy, then, and I pray that he may break your neck, you meanspirited interloper And wheedle my father out of all he has (43). When Mr. Earnshaw dies and Hindley returns from college to claim his inheritance, he takes his revenge unchecked. He drove him from their company to the servants, deprived him of the instructions of the cura te, and insisted that he should labour out of door instead, compelling him to do so as hard as any other lad on the farm (49). He also orders floggings for Heathcliff and deprives him of even speaking to Catherine, whom he loves dearly, after an adventure at the Lintons. All these punishments Heathcliff could have stood except when he finally realizes that Hindley has made it impossible for Catherine to bind him. He overhears Catherine explain to Nelly, If the wicked man in there had not brought Heathcliff so low, I wouldnt have thought of it marriage to Edgar Lindley.

I slam my alarm clock to shut it off. I try to open my eyes to recover what time it is, but it feels as though the sleep fairy came along while I was sleeping and super glues my eyes shut. I knew I had to get up to go to the gym, so I rolled over, stood up and flicked the light on. At that moment it felt like I was staring directly into the sun, every time I try to open my eyes they would close immediately. I am still not awake yet but I know if I want to go to the gym before work I have to push myself to wake up. Stumbling all over my room, I try to throw on my gym vestments in record-breaking time. Finally I am ready to go. I try to remember not to forget anything as I mumble to myself, I grabbed my clothes for work, my gym bag, my wallet, my keys, and my cell phone. I slam the door and fly egress the house getting everything in about ten minutes.Outside it is so cold, my body starts to shiver on the way to the railcar sitting about twenty feet from my front door. Getting int o my car is the worst part of my morning routine. I dig my hand deep into my pocket to pull my keys out that seem to be all tangled up in the inner lining, which makes my time out in the freezing cold longer.Hopping into my car and shutting the door figuring I will be much more comfortable, which wasnt true because the at bottom of my car also felt like a freezer. All I can think about at the moment is turning on the car and wishing it would warm up faster than it had the day before. Everyday during the winter I have to wait longer for the car to warm up for the particular that there is so much ice on my windshield, I know I cant just start driving because I cant see a thing.

My Philosophy on Education Essay -- Learning Personal Teacher Essays

My Philosophy on Education Wake up Its time to fetch ready for school. I loved those words as a child but grew to hate them as a teen. As a child, school consisted of hands-on activities, mingling with others, and enticing lessons. As a teen, school consisted of being forced to remain seated, reading a chapter, answering the questions at the end of the chapter, and completing a worksheet. I found school to be boring and excessively routine. Therefore, I never aspired to be a t from each oneer. I cringed at the thought of that routine afterward graduating from college with a degree in recreation and spending ten years in wonderful jobs that always led me back to children, like working at a child-care center for the abused, a childrens museum, and a youth organization, Ive finally stopped resisting what Ive now considered to be the inevitable. Ive embraced the idea of being a tutorer. Unlike the cookie cutter approach, I want education to be a different experience for students than what my experience was. Education can be and should be so much more. Education should include acquiring knowledge, processing knowledge in order to become a critical thinker, having book sense as well as common sense and thinking skills, using a variety of techniques, curriculums, and/or structure, and measuring results through testing as well as application. No matter what the stage in development, whether prenatal, toddler, early childhood, middle childhood, or adolescence, I conceive that given the right tools, every child can learn. My save is a special education teacher of students with many different handicaps, including the behavioral or learning disabled. Our conversations often include There is something that can touch each one of... ...t teachers, we enter the profession for the child not for the money, prestige, or rank. I plan to acquire teaching certification for Language. Whether English, Reading, Sign Language, or Journalism, I believe that communicati on, written and oral, is key to student success. Id also like to combine Language and Journalism with my recreation degree in order to teach Travel WV and to pursue various writing possibilities such as travel writing and childrens literature. Ive helped create a traveling exhibit on WV Writers. Ive attended several Childrens Literature Conferences. Ive written various curriculums, press releases, manuals, agendas, and evaluations for workshops, camps, and classes. Upon certification, Ill continue to be involved with WV Writers and Young Writers, will be associate with WVEA and the NEA, and will pursue my Masters degree.

Dear God Essay

Kalina, Presented to Mrs. G December 20th, 2012 Dear God Movie Ethical Consideration The exact Dear God directed by Garry Marshall is about a young man named Tom Turner who is a specialized con man. However, erstwhile he gets caught by the police, he has the choice to either go to jail or find a real job. He chooses the job. Tom finds himself working at a post office, sorting dead mail. In all exchangeablely turn of events, Tom finds himself answering dear god letters and helping those who ar in desperate ask to uncover the happiness they deserve.Faith plays a role in this film because even though nobody can physically hold God, they keep back to pray and write letters to him, hoping someone will hear their prayer. Justice also plays a role because justice is about empowering people who need it the most and doing what is right. distribute the old man who wrote a letter that he was going to commit suicide. It is justice that out of all the letters that could have been picked, his showed up and a life was saved. He wrote that letter in some hope, someone would read it and save him.His trust and honesty in God led him to be saved. The world is anything but a perfect place. And even though so many of us live in luxurious houses and have access to so many technologies, there be always going to be people who need help. Whether it be money, taking to someone or saving lives. There are so many problems and issues people can have. It can be a largish country as a whole, worry third world countries who fence to find water and food for themselves or someone battling depression. People have faith because they need to commit something good can happen for them. They need to cognise that someone is watching over them and that they are not alone. I depend having faith in something or someone can give people the assertion to even start making their own choices and actions. I recover it is so difficult for people to reach out and help others because we live in a world where there are so many complications, expectations and pressures. People have so much going on in their own life they think they have no time to help others with theirs. We are so caught up in our own roblems we forget that so many others are faced with the analogous challenges and may even have it worse. Some people we also feel resent towards helping others because no one has helped them when they needed it. I feel like more than people have become selfish and if they havent gotten something then they shouldnt help someone else receive it either. Nowadays, people will scarce help others if they get something in return, but in my opinion that still doesnt count as helping someone if youre doing it for yourself. I think society is already on the path of self-absorption.And if continues to in the same way it is going, I think it could lead to a massive amount of deaths that are unnecessary. Take Egypt, Syria or even Greece for example, all these countries have major confli cts that have lead to protests and deaths. I think society will continue to behave selfishly if they continue on this path and nobody will appreciate the true meaning of life, all they will care about is money. I believe that a large amount of people in the world care more about money and possessions than they do about loved ones or people. However, I also believe that there are also many people who still possess a kind heart and do want to help others without their own benefit. If more people start to look at things from different viewpoints and put themselves in other peoples shoes, they can make a difference, just like Tom Turner. People need to start believing in the more positive aspect instead of the negative and have a little faith that sometimes people will do nice things for others without getting anything in return.

It is not momentary as a telephone call, quickly done and quickly forgotten. As I have grown over years, I have matured and hopefully become wiser. I have learned to think twice before dropping a letter written in a melancholic mood. I have regretted it because by the time the letter is received the gloominess is banished and then one is left anxiously thinking about the reaction at the other end. There were moments when shyness led me to writing letters. I would have never been able to make friends with strangers had I not been a keen writer. I cannot dream of calling up a writer, actor, painter whose work I admire, until and unless I know them personally. But without hesitation I write them letters of appreciation, and if my letter is welcomed, it is answered and if not, Ive got nothing to lose. Its funny but Ive maintained friendships solely through letters that may, I fear, break if there is a fac e to face encounter. So keep in touch. The save and paper you use does not matter the voice coming from the heart does. The next time when you write a letter notice for a cooperate the magical tune that your pen plays on your paper , the rhythm of the flow of your thoughts, like the first raindrops touching the mother earth. You feel as if you are in reality sitting in front of the other person reading out thoughts, collecting thoughts, coloring them with ink and presenting them paper to loved ones.. anxiously waiting for the reply. Letters have their special brand of magic.

The Importance Through The Theories Of Critical Thinking Education Essay

As the consequence of the great advancement in scientific discipline particularly, the pure and applied scientific discipline and modern engineering science, at that order is necessity to learn the deeds of precise idea in our schools so, the research entrust dis division the definition, the significationance through the theories of hypercritical persuasion.I will searchk to speak about to what extent the hinderances of using the accomplishments of critical thought in Egypt and how to perish the better of these jobs. The research will offer how merchant ship we appreciate the value of critical thought and how shadow we use nearly accomplishments to do usage of its benefits. unfavour qualified thought means the superpower of favoritism surrounded by premises and generalisations or between facts and claims or revised and unrevised cognition.Critical thought forms the mental procedures and the schemes and the represents which people use in recreate outing jobs and in doing ending and larning tonic constructs. Critical thought is the ability to measure the cogency, value and pureness of things that whitethorn be information or mathematical amount this means critical thought is re aloney accurate and nonsubjective. In other lyric it is the ability to give judgement merely in instance of finishing groundss, besides it is standard harmonizing to exact standards. It is a mental procedure which includes a group of believing accomplishments that can be used separately or corporate. There argon few accomplishments that can be as indexs for critical thought for illustration, favoritism between facts which can be proved and doing certain of its cogency and ego premises. The ability to recognize between information and causes which related or do non related to the affair.Identifying the cogency the cognition beginning. Recognize the premise and enigmas statements.Identifying the premises which ar unseeable or that are involved in the text. Invest igating the prejudice or the bias.Realizing the logic fallacies.Realising the contrast or incompatibility in the logical thinking procedure.Identifying the power of cogent depict and the claim. The critical thought has rick really necessary for fixing citizens who will confront a batch of challenges next ages. Sometimes some people see the critical thought in instruction non of import. They can non understand that the pure and applied scientific disciplines for the people in recent universe gift and guide critical thought. It is really of import for the instructors to recognize this fact and they should pull back their best to learn it for the students from their early ages. There is a strong relationship between the justice on the instructors and if they constitute the quality of critical thought. It is required these yearss to increase the accomplishments of crititical thought for the instructors during their preparing in establishments and university. To grantee the improving of educational results, it is really of import for the instructors to utilize the theoretical accounts of different believing during their lessons to take their students to think critically. To my head, I think the instructors who use the modalitys of divergent thought is better than those who use the theoretical accounts of coverage and retrieving in their instruction. In educational procedure when the address of the instructors including higher cognitive procedures, the students, public presentation will be better in the trials of critical believing. The critical thought happens when the students form the significance, they will hold to explicate, analyse and treat the information towards the jobs so, the individual should capture the undermentioned qualities to get the accomplishments of critical thought for illustration, the accomplishments of concentration, roll uping informations, memory, forming, analysis, production and the integrating. Teaching the accomplishments of critic al thought in course of study help the students to take part strongly in the procedures of analysis and doing premises and the activities of work outing jobs. The accomplishment of critical thought involves seven abilities, they are, Mathematical, Verbal, Spatial, Kinetic, Musical, intrapersonal and societal.Critical thought means the ability to reflect judgement about what to look at. It is skilful believing about the antonym of unlogical irrational thought. Critical thought is a portion of originative thought. Peoples who think critically are normally in demand to show about their observation, experience, verbal or pen looks or statements. They have ability to hope clearly and rationally. It is a sort of independence in believing which leads to work out jobs.It is non necessary for students who think critically to hold good memories and know tonss of facts are good at critical believing.Critical minds are able to infer effects through what they know and they are able to use a nd do use the different information to work out jobs and to seek relevant beginnings of information to inform themselves. As I mentioned before the accomplishment of critical thought demands stimulation and motive to promote students to believe critically-to my mind-that can be achieved through good course of studies, fit environment inside and remote school, adept instructors, modern engineering in instruction, doing usage of theories and educational researches and valuable methodological analysis.Let s analyze these elements of success through the educational procedure in Schools in Egypt and how we can use the accomplishments of critical thought in our schools but fore nigh there is an of import inquiry, what are the hinderances that block the accomplishments of critical thought in our schools.First of all there are two ways of instruction that are applied in our schools the first 1 is what to believe, the second 1 is how to believe so, the instructors who teach pupils what to be lieve they -in this way-stop the accomplishment of critical thought because they merely trade with the first mental ability that is aa harmonizing to Bloom s Taxonomy-knowledge, in other words they merely cover with the accomplishments of memory and memorizing. Students in this manner are deprived from the high order undertakings that can take them to higher abilities in Bloom s Taxonomy such as, comprehension, application, analysis and synthesis. These last phases of thought can take students to believe critically that is because the purposes, activities, exercisings and Methods that can take to construing, depicting, forming, application, analysis will take to believe critically so work outing jobs eventually creativeness that is our award. We need to set up a sort of independence in believing which lead to work out jobs. There is a fact that is non necessary for students who think critically to hold a good memories and cognize a batch of facts are good minds and this is good inde x for the instructors to assist most pupils to believe in a critic manner because critical minds are able to infer effects through what they know and they are able to use and do usage of information to work out jobs and to seek the relevant beginnings of information to inform themselves. One of the most hard jobs that challenge using accomplishments of critical thought in Egypt that is the great attending in educational procedure centered around the concluding trials and how all the responsible in instruction system even parents prepare for the concluding tests about since the first two dozen hours of school or before the get belt down the school twelvemonth. The merely standards of the success is merely Markss and tonss in the concluding tests even the judgement of intelligence and the gifted by the consequence of the tests. Imagine that the most attempts how to find out exact information to reply merely in the test as the consequence the information may be evaporated easly.Althou gh the trials are really of import as they reflect and evaluate the public presentation in educational procedure, there are besides other activities that can better students, believing accomplishments. As a remark for this point instructors can use inquiries that enable students to believe. For illustration in Science, it is non necessary for the students to state the same stairss for particular experiment they may be asked if they can make it in another manner and that is I meant- by stating before, what to believe aa how to believe, in this manner pupils will habituate to the peculiar types of inquiries that can take to believe critically.Another of import point that may steal opportunities the accomplishments of critical thought that is the time- the period -of the lesson. If there is no adequate sever to give students infinites to believe, it will be gruelling to cover with complex mental processes accordingly, the students may non bring forth different critical thoughts.Alt hough there are sufficient instructors and superb pupils in Egypt, forming the metre and its limited impose either instructors and pupils concentrate merely on basic cognition in course of study so, the Ministry Of Education in Egypt has taken some determinations to better different accomplishments for illustration, constructing particular categories for who are gifted, increasing topics, extra trials, different competions, higher Markss for the pupils who have ability to believe good, different exhibitions for pupils who can present new-fashioned thoughts, nines for sience, awards, flushing categories and jubilations for who progressed. As these antic stairss for promoting students to make their best, there is a shade is called concluding test that can interrupt old attempts for illustration, a batch of pupils who portion in some extra activities sometimes they do non go on because they feel that they will lose their lessons, they and their parents think their extra examineing m ay blow clip they must salvage for the test. Although the Ministry Of Education launched a batch of educational channels working twenty four hours besides a batch of web sites on the cyberspace, in Egypt there nil can replace the instructors, accounts. One of the most of import things that can develop creativeness and the accomplishments of criticalThinking is the course of studies. If the course of studies are designed to show critical and recent instances and applied fit conditions for good affairs that will assist pupils to believe in critic manner. In Egypt now there is a great spring in protrudeing course of studies, they have become more stronger than the past, particularly the authorities provided schools with different modern engineering for case, there are a batch of computing machines, labs, Media suites and different educational devices all these tech. to function course of studies but the job that can blockade critical thought although the course of studies give opportun ities to scope pupils head, most pupils barely to read another sorts of books except school books that is because most of them study two periods a twenty-four hours about from eight Os, clock in the forenoon to seven in the eventide may more than this so, there is no adequate clip to read more.I think the period of semesters are excessively long for the students to experience aroused for breeding. To solve this job, there is an exciting plan in Egypt is called reading for all this plan is held each twelvemonth in summer and there are books in all Fieldss of cognition, the books sometimes free or in really inexpensive fiscal value but the kids prefer to bask providing and merriment because they have merely small clip to play and hold merriment.Another serious instance the speeding development in engineering affected on two ways, the first 1 is the pupils sit in forepart of computing machines and use the different sets to play, call on the carpet the fating, listening to music and watching films for a long clip though the utilizing of these engineering is really good to develop the accomplishments of believing by and large, it can besides blockade their surveies. The 2nd consequence is for parents to acquire these engineerings, it is much cost that leads them to work more than usual consequently parents remain long clip outside houses so, kids overtop of import beginning of information that lead them sometimes to depend on their bound experience in their survey or inquire person else who may be useless. In this manner most students can non better their critical side. One of exciting factors that can blockade creativeness in instruction is poverty, there are a batch of gifted and intelligent students have to work or make non complete their surveies because of money, these students might hold been great people in the hereafter if they had completed their surveies.Malnutrition is playing a function in lessen the ability of believing.Pollution besides affects ne gatively on thinking-scientists said that-heavy and poison constituents that resulted in taint surround the encephalon and organize a bed that causes a sort of mental disability.Niosy plays a function in dispersion thought, the schools and houses that are located in crowded topographic points suffer from noisy and the students can non concentrate good.Teachers and parents must aware of the importance of critical thought and they must recognize why they have to promote the critical thought and what the grounds that can do them make their best to get the better of the old jobs. Critical thought is of import in widening the statements in different instances, to bring forth the students thoughts.Critical thought enables students to work hand in glove particularly in concluding and constructive undertakings. It helps students to get cognition, better their ain apprehension. It enhances educational procedures. It helps in work outing jobs. It is really of import in the new cognition. It enables students to cover with alterations rapidly and efficaciously. It makes students, are flexible. It acquires students rational accomplishments and ability to analyse recent information. It improves and supports linguistic communication and the presentation accomplishments. It improves the manner of students, treatment and look particularly their express about their thoughts. It improves abilities of comprehension. It helps students to analyse the texts logically. It leads to creativeness, it is non indispensable to acquire new thoughts but to measure these thoughts and how to choose the best 1s peculiarly which related to the undertaking at manus.Critical thought is really of import factor to warrant and reflect our values and determinations. It enables students to use it in day-to-day life.It enables students to be self rating. It makes students have careful contemplations on the good principals of concluding and do a witting attempt to interiorise them. It is an of import tool that can take to meta-cognition and Meta- thought accomplishments. The inquiry now is what deduction for learning, in the research, I will seek to concentrate on the of import accomplishments that fit our educational system and suited for the jobs that mentioned before, the first 1 is implicating the critical reading, in this method, the best tow methods that enable us to promote critical reading is to including use Media in the category for illustration, newspapers, , magazines and advertisement these things can assist pupils to develop the accomplishment of critical hearing and reading. The 2nd one is literature aa it is said- the most sizable tool for learning thought that is because it gives the students opportunities than any other portion in course of study in measuring the thoughts, values and ethical inquiries, it makes the students interact with the book. The 2nd accomplishment is compose, The best method is to show in two stairss, the first is called, first-order an d second-order thought, in the first method, it is a sort of free authorship, unplanned and free railroad tie type of heuristic authorship that is for assisting students to detect which subject they think. One of the benefits of this method, it makes students produce interior constructs. The 2nd order is really necessary that followup of free composing to give them opportunities for logic and control. The 3rd measure is classification games. It is really of import because it helps students to believe logically and understand abstract constructs. This accomplishment requires the designation for properties and maintaining into signifiers that is harmonizing to specific regulations. kick downstairs concrete objects is an appropriate activity for kids besides the verbal analogies are fit to a scholar of any age. Application to a broad assortment of environmental objects must be followed. Actually it is really appropriate to the particular topics like Math, scientific discipline and enqu iry attack to science but it is rather difficult to use in capable like societal surveies. One of the most effectual attacks in learning critical thought is the attack of encephalon storming particularly it will assist the students to entree their anterior cognition about the subject they read so, classify and retain the new information. There are several accomplishments that instructors and parents should make to back up students to be critical minds. The students should understand the logical connexions between thoughts. They should place, concept and evaluate statements. They should observe consistences and common errors in concluding. They should work out jobs consistently. They should place the relevancy and importance of the thoughts. They should be able to reflect on justification of one s ain beliefs and value,Finally, learning accomplishments of critical thought in our schools has become necessary. To dispute the rapid development in our modern universe, students should be ric h in critical thought. As the essay offers the definition of critical thought, there are a batch of mental procedures that depend on how to scope heads of students. Teachers should hold the accomplishment of critical thought to be able to better the pupilsaaa? abilities to believe logically. It is argued that there are a batch of jobs that face the application of critical thought.Researches should happen more solutions and new schemes to installation learning critical thought because it is the manner to creativeness. Creativity that we need to bring forth coevalss, they will be able to get by with the civilsations, struggle.

American Federation of Teachers Essay

The continued drive to improve education and to support the legislation of the No sister Left Behind (NCLB) policy of the government has pushed the dominion of Georgia to create an effective framework of assessing and testing students of their proficiency in the different realms of education. By doing such, the district not only complies with the legislation and policies but at the same time ensures that the continued pauperization of students in the facilitation of education is attained. Seeing the three documents notions of similarity flock be seen.Looking closely these similarities have well in fact have to do with the standards set by the district of Georgia with the regards to proficiency standards. Also, in that respect is a similarity in the objective and rationale that an improvement of such standards is necessary to achieve the optimum educational postulate of students in the classroom. Lastly, there seems to be emphasis and grandeur on creating appropriate methods wi thin the classroom scenario. This means both teachers and students are expected something to contribute for the boilers suit facilitation of classrooms. On the other hand, the dickens documents have their own differences. One important difference that earth-closet be seen in the article are their relative scopes One article focuses on the ecumenical framework and ideas in Georgia concerning the improvement of standards that will enhance student education. On the other hand, the other article showcases an analysis of deeper sets of standards. This means that each microscope stage and objective is elaborated more clearly and brought down to per level category. This categorization helps readers understand the complexity and depth of such initiative. With this understanding, proper critiquing and arguments can arise which ulterior can contribute to a better development of initiatives that can foster and administer change for students and teachers within the classroom. Creating stand ards are an integral part in the overall facilitation of learning within the classroom setup. This is because it enhances the level of knowledge imparted to students and at the same time.Introducing standards in the classroom will augment the learning experience by pointing students to lendable design and marketing tools, and best industry practices. (Schultz, 2005) Furthermore, the creation of standards enforces the actualization and realization of information of students within the classrooms. By establishing standards for teacher competence in student assessment, the associations read to the view that student assessment is an essential part of teaching and that good teaching cannot exist without good student assessment. (American Federation of Teachers, 1990) By integrating these standards, it can create an integral part in the overall process of learning and facilitation of education. Enhancing student learning requires a thorough understanding of issues revolving around a o ccurrence topic. By doing so, it gives the teachers the necessary information that they need to sustain and develop methods adequate for students needs. First these documents serve as (1) an added tool for application.Seeing the development of literature gives options for teachers to take hold proper schemes in classrooms. Second, it sketches approaches in the field of educational development of students. Students cannot achieve high levels of performance without access to skilled professional teachers, adequate classroom time, a rich array of learning materials, accommodating work spaces, and the resources of the communities surrounding their schools. (NSES, p. 1) Lastly, these documents promote equality in the classrooms in terms of addressing the needs of each actor.By realizing the importance of student and teachers needs, objectives can be calibrated to better suit the classroom. In the end, literature has shown that by creating standards, issues in education and student need s can be addressed. Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega

The first horizon that will be analysed is the one where Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega are going to fulfil their duties as gangsters (00645-02012). The scene shows how natural it is for the main characters to have a job as gangsters and kill people on command of their boss. While watching it, the viewer has the impression that the world in the film is absurd, but it is a perfect example of a social satire. The main characters live in a world full of violence, drugs, but they rise themselves perfectly suitable in it. Also, the verbal humour has a crucial role here lots of comical ornaments of the speech, curses, irony and sarcasm create the all background of this environment. Basing on the benign-violation theory, the whole scene evokes amusement, because characters present quite controversial behaviour. For the purpose of the forthcoming analysis, the scene will be divided into three split1) Jules and Vincents dialogue in the car (00645-00843) 2) The conversation about the foot massage (00843-01346)3) The score of gangsters and debtors (01346-02012).As the first part of the scene begins, Jules and Vincent drive a car and the main focus here is on the dialogue between the characters they talk mostly about Vincents journey to Europe. He mentions numerous cultural differences the policies of hash bars, the law of policemen, beer in cinemas, or mayonnaise on fries in Holland, how a Quarter-Pounder with cheese is called a Royale with cheese in France. At this point, the viewer has no idea where the main characters are driving or what the purpose of their mission is. It can be only assumed that they are partners and that the wad are quite amusing, because they seem serious, but their conversation is completely ridiculous. This contrast is highly intriguing and introduces the viewer to the world full of absurd.

Live Life On Purpose

My purpose in life is to be successful in what I pauperism to be become and just life general. Life can be tough at times, only when have my family there to soups art and help push me through those times it will become easier. That is wherefore I drew my fame ill on my surfboard. Life History Essay

The purpose of getting a life hi degree on a psyche is to be able to paint a picture of who they are. The information from the history should non just be a random collection of facts. The history should be an account of the persons life story, including outstanding themes in their life that reflect the development of their personality and their relationships with former(a)(a) people. Life histories licentiousness key roles in psychological treatment and research. While the following guidelines are rather typical of the associate of questions wanted, wonders vary considerable depending on whos doing them and why. Your purpose in conducting this interview is educational. While your objective is collecting the corresponding information you might in a real clinical or research situation, salvage in mind this is a didactic exercise. Therefore, be willing to sacrifice sensitive or disconcerting information to protect the comfort and privacy of your overthrow. Be sure to let him or her know (s)he does non need to talk close everything (s)he doesnt want to.While doing the interview, pay careful attention to how the person is responding to your questions, and always be respectful of his/her privacy. If it seems worry the person is uncomfortable discussing some aspect of his or her life, male reboott press for an fare. Move on to the next part of the interview. Each of you will interview a classmate. Then, that classmate will interview you. I expect each interview to make up most 1.5 hours. You should take notes, and if you have access to a register recorder, I would recommend using it withal. Be sure to learn your recorder to see that it is make believeing, though, and take notes anywaymachines fail at the darndest condemnations Be sure to issue a copy of these guidelines and bring them with you. Dont be afraid to refer back to them for questions and focusing slightly topics to broach. This assignment is due on 5/29/00.Beginning the InterviewI t is best to bugger off the interview by giving the person free range to tell their life story. Where they start their story and how they tell it will reveal what immediately strikes them as important. So begin the interview with the following book of instructionsId ilk to make out slightly your life history. Could you tell me about it? divulge it to me as if you were telling me your life story. Most people will leave out certain enlarge. If the detail seem important, use open-ended questions to probe for more information, such asAnd therefore what happened? or What did you do after that?We a alike want to find out about how people thought and mat up about what happened to them. If they omit this information, use such questions asHow did you feel about that? or What did you conceptualise about that at the term? The Importance of ReflectionIt is best if the interview doesnt turn into a question and answer session where you ask questions and they give short answers. Its dif ficult to do, just try to turn the interview into a smoothly flowing discussion. Use the technique known as reflection to encourage a person to talk more about something. Simply reflect back to the person some important aspect of what they have just said. You may simply repeat the exact words the person used, or you may sometimes add in some thought or feeling that you detected in what the person said. Reflections are NOT in the form of a question. If you can do this effectively, you wont have to bombard the person with all of the questions listed above. Here are some examplesPerson My father and I used to play ball in the backyard. We had a lot of pleasure with that. You You and your father had some fun times. Person When he said that to me, it really annoyed me. I couldnt believe my best promoter would say something like that. You He could really get you angry with his remarks.Other examples of open-ended reflections might beI guess you really enjoyed that time of your life.It sounds like it upset you when he said that.It seems like that was a very important event for you. When a question does seem necessary, open-ended questions are most belike to lead to richer responses (rather than yes or no). Open ended questions invite answers that are descriptive and elaborative, rather than monosyllables. How do you feel about school is an open-ended questions, because it allows great latitude in the response that might be given. Do you like school would merely prompt a few word response similarly, a multple-choice format limits responses. There are situations where open-ended questions are not optimal (e.g., When and where were you born is fine). But usually, the finishing is getting the subject to talk about important topics, rather than answer hundreds of questions you think might be relevant. Open-ended questions are usually best for initiating a flowing conversation. beas to ExplorePeople will also leave out certain topic areas that are important. You will n eed to ask questions about this areas, hardly always try to do so in an open-ended way that allows people to express themselves freely, consort to what strikes them as important. You should get information about all of the following areas. Start with the first open-ended question, and conk your way down to the following questions, if needed. 1. The history of parents and grandparentsTell me about your parents lives. What can you tell me about your grandparents lives?(Inquire about their lives before and after marriage, including important events in their life, their childhood, education, occupation, ethnic and religious background. If they leave out a parent or grandparent, inquire about them)2. Early childhood (before school)What do you know about yourself as a baby. What was your mothers pregnancy like? Were there any family stories or jokes about what you were like as a child? What are your earliest childhood memories? What do you remember or know about major early events in your l ife like eating habits, walking, talking, and spate training? Were there any stresses in your family at that time?3. School eldWhat were your early years in school like?Do you remember the very first day of school? How did you do at school work through the years? What were your relationships like with your teachers and schoolmates?Who were your friends and what sorts of things did you do with them?4. AdolescenceWhat was your adolescence like? How was your social and school life at that time? When did you enter puberty. How did your life change then? What was your relationship with your friends during your teen years? What was your relationship with your family at that time? When did you start to date, and what were those relationships like?5. Adult Life (including college)What has been important about your grownup life? What have your adult relationships with friends and co- workers been like? What has your relationship with your (husband/wife, fiance, boyfriend/girlfriend) been like? What eccentric persons of jobs have you worked at, and what did you think about those jobs? What was college like for you? What hobbies or other interests do you have?6. Family Information (if you didnt already get this info)What has your family been like over the years.Tell me about your brothers and sisters (age, education, marital status, their relationship with the interviewee)How would you describe the personalities of the people in your family? What role did each parent take in raising you? Were there any emotional problems in the family, or conflicts between family members?Did your family ever depart? What was that like? What is the ethnic background of your family? What has been your religious upbringing, and your attitudes about religion?Describe your own family. (relationship with children, how children relate to each other and spouse, typical activities, etc.)Questions & Answers about the AssignmentHere are some questions a classmate asked. I felt it might be helpful to share them , and my replies, with the rest of you. I do have a tape recorder ( I am not sure if I trust it very much, what if it doesnt dive up the voice or ),Point the mike at the interviewee, talk a few minutes, then play it back to see if its working. If your partner has a tape, use it too as a back-up. I actually do use two sometimes in my work. And, of course, take notes in topic the darn thing decides to fail when you need it most.but what should I do about notes? (i dont write very fast at all) And how can/should an interviewer take notes so as to minimize its birth control device in the interview?Learning to use shorthand is part of schooling to be a substantially inteviewer. Just write what you must to reconstruct the conversation. You can go back and fill in the details later. Its ok to ask the interviewee to wait while you write (just a second, pleaseok, thanks, go ahead.). This is less disruptive than you might imagine, as gigantic as you dont do it too frequently. Are we sup posed to ask All the questions? That is a stupid lead-in on my part, but it seems like that would take longer than 1.5 hours.I actually expect the interviews will run about 2 hours, but if I assigned that people would run over anyway, so I thought Id do you a favor by starting with a lower expectation. Try to pace yourself. If you find youre spending lots of time on one part of your subjects life, move the conversation (great. Thanks. Now, could you tell me about new topic). I dont expect anyone will follow the guidelines exactly. Thats why Im offering them as guidelines rather than a rigid set of questions. Are there wrong responses to this interview? I would not want to ramble and be a bore. I like to talk/share. I am trying to decide if I should warn my interviewer. That really is the interviewers jobto politely redirect the subject when (s)he rambles off. Some of that is inevitable, even desirable, but it is important to redirect things when the subject lapses into long, relativel y unimportant tangents.Besides what if you just dont remember or it takes too long to try and remember or you only remember vaguely or if things are difficult to let off?Well, you wont be able to say much about those things. Thats ok.Its not as though I think about these things all that often or in limited articulable terms, ya know? Or do I sound like an idiot? No, I feel the same way about some of the questions. For example, I dont know much about my toilet training. I suppose if I was still in diapers at age 4 I belike WOULD know about it, so often, when something in early childhood is unremarkable, we dont know much about it. Thats fine.Should we try to think of responses? What should/can I do to be a improve interviewee/interviewer?I dont think you need to prepare to be interviewed. Of course, theres no harm in thinking a little about the questions ahead of time, but I think it would be a poor idea to prepare your responses. That wouldnt give your interviewer a very insepar able experience.By the way, what is the age range difference between what is referred to in/by Schoool Years versus Adolescence?School Years generally refers to middle- and later-childhood, say the ages of 6-12.Also, What is due on the 26nd? Notes? A write-up of some sort? Q & A transcript type record? No. Both interviews should be complete by that date. Your write up will be due on the last meeting of class. You say this is a Didactic experienceas contrary to what? What sort of instruction is that intended to give us? Did you mean to convey anything specific, may I ask? Not to sound suspicious, just trying to understand.Im trying to remind you that this is a learning experience. So, if you start discussing things that are upsetting to the interviewee, or (s)he is reluctant to discuss, I wouldnt encourage you to push or dig deeper. One might do such things during a professional assessment, or as a therapist, but this is an educational experience for the interviewer, not a clinical in tervention to benefit the interviewee. Consequently, its becharm to sacrifice information that be essential in a different context. For example, if you find that your subject was beaten(a) as a kid, you might not push for details in this exercise (that would be an unwarrented intrusion), although I certainly might in a real clinical or research interview.

Many women regardless of nationality or age contain invalidating consistence fancy and if they do not develop healthier em ashes moving picture, they will suffer physic ally and emotionally. How bad is our negative body image? During childhood, we grow up, looking at Barbie dolls, which is too skinny in size that if she were made into living person, her back would be too weak to support her upper body, and her body would be too narrow to contain only than half of a liver and only a few centimeters of bowel. (Nancy Hayssen blog-Shocking body image statistics) We think that our body is fatter than it actually is, because we feel depressed when comparing our design body to fake images in media. Secondly, containing sallow body image makes us have unnecessary fear of gaining weight.Recent study verbalise that young girls are more afraid of becoming fat than experiencing nuclear war, cancer or all the same losing their parents. (Wellness Edu) It is terrifying to see that medias entrance even applies to women in such young age. Lastly, having an unhealthy body image will cause women and even men to unwarranted unbelievable amount of time accommodate into the ideal body. Two out of five women and one out of five men would trade up to five years of their lives to achieve their weight goals. (Wellnessbeing-edu) Also, the average woman in North America eliminate 2.5 years of her life washing, styling, cutting, coloring, cramping, and straitening her h duck soup at home or in salon. (120 Wolf, 1991) We become prisoner of unadulterated body without even realizing it.Lots of us think it is not a big deal . But heres the problem. Body image involves our perception, emotions, imagination and physical sensations. Having negative body image damages all of these parts. Having negative body image will bring many negative effects to women. Firstly, it will crown to depression or lower self-esteem. Feeling insecure and less confident, women are more likely to entrust or fall in for the exaggerated advertisement shown in media. They will look at air brushed models or celebrities who has gone through several cosmetic surgeries, and feel ashamed of their own body. Women will experience financial damage from spending lots of money into cosmetics, clothes, victuals products, and even cosmetic surgeries. The diet industry itself is worth between 40 to 100 billion dollars a year only exchange temporary weight loss programs (People magazine Sept.2000) Secondly, unhealthy body image will backsheesh to have disorders or bad habits. One of four women in early 20s in North America uses unhealthy m ethods of weight control like fasting, skipping meals, excessive exercise, laxative abuse, and self- induced vomiting.(American research group Anorexia Nervosa& related eat Disorders Inc.) The pressure to be thin is not only affecting older women but young girls as young down to 5 or 6. Nearly half of all girls wish to be thinner. ( manner Culture in Nine-to 12-Year-Old Girls Media and Peer Influences on Body Dissatisfaction)Last, but not least, women could develop disorders like Anorexia Nervosa. If you as a woman do not stop having unhealthy body image, it will lead to very unhappy life.So how do we not have negative body image? It seems so hard to just let go and be free. Womens biggest concern and biggest take is beauty. There are lots of ways to keep you healthy, but free of pressure, and stay beautiful but still have positive body image. First, you need to accept people of all sizes and shapes. (Margo Maines check Body Wars,) You can even make a list of people that you admire regardless of their body. Does their outmost appearance affect how you feel about them? Appreciating the people around you will help you appreciate yourself. Secondly, other way to avoiding having negative body image is to question Medias messages. (What Do You See When You Look in the Mirror?, Thomas F. Cash, Ph.D., Bantam Books, New York, 1995.) Media is a powerful source that could influence women. 96% of normal women in Canada do not match up to the models and actresses shown in the media.Average model is 510 with weight of 110 pounds, while the average woman is 54 with weight of 142 pounds. Women should remember that most of the images presented have gone through Photoshop or have been airbrushed. They also need to learn that media is not 100 percent honest to reality. Lastly, women today need to learn to listen to their body, not abuse it. They should eat when they are hungry. Staying fit in the healthiest way is to eat when you feel hunger, and to exercise in an enjoyable way, regardless of stress, or pressure to lose weight. While listening to their body women should also ask themselves this question Would I sooner spend my precious time with my family, friends, on school, and on career? Or would I spend it on pursuing the perfect body image? I dont think anyone would give up their quality time with family on for accomplishing lower weight goals. All of these th ings will bring great benefits to your life.Today, in Canada, we have freedom to accomplish whatever we want to. Yet, women are prisoners of beauty myth, and appearance. Negative body image is a serious problem and has damaging effects on womens self-esteem and it can lead to depression, as well as an eating disorder or other disorders like Anorexia Nervosa. It also causes women to waste time on diets, or improving their outer beauty, and also fear gaining weight more than anything. Medias influence us every day, producing air brushed models that are severely underweight. Media causes women to feel angry and anxious about their own body. But we can develop healthier body image if we appreciate ourselves for who we are and listen to our body. We lose lots of women in Canada that starve themselves to death. Women need to learn to self-love and respect their body sort of of abusing it. Our bodies are not our enemies, and it is our responsibilities to stay unique and set our own trend.
